Tips To Help You With Cleaning Carpet Stains

by admin on September 18, 2010

Cleaning carpet stains can sometimes be a very difficult task. Part of the reason is because when a stain first occurs, your first reaction is to pour every chemical on it that you have in your house to try to get it out. However, this can actually be counterproductive. You want to be careful what you apply to your carpet as different types of carpets have different carpet cleaning needs.

Cleaning carpet stains doesn’t have to be difficult. For simple stains, such as dirt, you can usually get the stain out with a good soap based cleaner. However, if the stain is stronger than that, say, pet stains, ketchup, wine, or ink, you may have to either rent a steam cleaning machine or call a professional carpet cleaning company to come and do the job for you.

A professional will usually steam clean your carpet. Steam cleaning carpet stains breaks the stain up by using very hot water. The drawback to cleaning carpet stains this way is that it leaves your carpet damp afterwards. This usually means that you can’t walk on it for some time. You also run the risk of mold and mildew developing in your house if it isn’t the correct temperature. Some people just don’t want to take this risk, so they choose to have their carpets cleaned using “dry” cleaning methods.

The dry chemical cleaning method uses certain chemicals, usually packed with certain enzymes, that break the stain up without having to get the carpet wet. The drawback to this method is that you can ruin your carpet if you don’t know what you’re doing. It’s best, if you’re going to use this method, to find the help of a professional so that you don’t do permanent
damage to your carpet.

Cleaning carpet stains doesn’t have to be an activity that causes a lot of anxiety. It all depends on what kind of stain you have. Any stain, be it pet stains or ink stains, can be removed. The trick is to apply whatever method you choose as soon as you can so that the substance doesn’t have time to reach the padding underneath, which is the reason most stains become
permanent. Don’t worry if something hits your carpet, there’s a method out there that will get that stain out so that you don’t have to find a new piece of furniture to cover it up. You can keep your carpet looking great for as long as you have it.

Tips on cleaning set in stains on carpets and keeping them looking and smelling clean?
I live with my boyfriend and our roommate is another guy. They both are 22 years old. Well my boyfriend and I have a cat that is fixed, and our roommate has one that sprays. I just bought Bissell Proheat 2X cleaner, and I want to make sure I get as many stains out as I can. Now between two working men, the cold, damp/wet weather that we have out in Wisconsin, and two cats, how will I be able to get the stains out. And keep my carpet looking and smelling clean. I already know how to use the carpet cleaner and I know to clean the carpet about once a week if not more. But I need some good tips on how to get the set in stains out. From snow, to cat urine, to beer, to mud, and heavy traffic areas. Please help me. I can use all the help I can recieve. Thank you.
I rent an apartment and the landlords don’t know about my roommates cat. All cats have to be fixed before we move in, and any additional cats we buy or take in, have to be fixed as well. If they find out about the cat, or the stains the cat made, we will be kicked out.

Ohhhh, do yourself a favor and pull up all the carpet and put down hardwood or laminate flooring! One carpet has that kitty urine smell, there’s really no hope.

After cleaning the carpet spray scotch guard all over the carpet. Make sure to keep the carpet cleaned every day. Try vaccuming daily and use the Bissell once a week. This should help. Every time you use the Bissell make sure to spary more scotch guard. Good LuckReferences :

I use 409 carpet spot & stain remover. It comes in a arosal can. Cleans pet stains, tracked- in dirt, motor oil, food grease, coffee/tea, red wine and much more. This stuff really works. My dog puked on the carpet and the stain stayed for about half a year until I found this stuff.

All you do is spray it on and wait 3 minutes and srcub the stain. Or for larger areas let the foam dry on the area an then vacuum it.References :

Ok, I own a carpet store. Old stains are next to impossible to get out, and each kind requires its own treatment. One rule for everything is blot, don’t rub. When you rub you destroy the fiber and the area will stand out even more.

You will have to try a product such as Spot Shot. Follow the directions on the can. The stains are likely to come back over and over because whatever stained the carpet is now in the pad. Humidity and other moisture, along with foot traffic, will cause the stain to wick back up into the carpet. Your best bet is to always always treat stains as soon as you see them. Good luck.

By the way, if you clean your carpet once a month you are wearing it out, and removing all the factory applied stain treatment. Carpet is intended to be cleaned once or twice a year.

Find a distributor of "Rug Doctor" products and buy a bottle of "Urine Eliminator." This stuff is awesome in getting out both the stain and the stench. All you have to do to use it is spray it on the spot, then cover the spot with a damp towel and let it sit until the towel is dry. It will even take care of old, dried in stains.

I buy it a Lowe’s Home Center, but I believe any number of grocery stores also carry Rug Doctor. You can also find it online. (http://buy.rugdoctor.com/tabid/46/Default.aspx) Rug Doctor is a rug cleaner you can rent. Don’t have to rent to buy the spray.

Good luck

Use a yarn string mop, bucket with Lysol and warm water. When using a string mop squeeze it till almost no liquid comes out and scrub the heck out of it. Be sure to clean mop out every few minutes and when bucket of water gets dirty dump down toilet and start again till water comes out clean. I take my mop outside every few minutes and spray with high pressure hose to get very clean and keep going other wise you are just spreading it around! Good luck! resource me and hard work and nothing is going to beat me I win!

Go to a hardware store and get a pump sprayer one gallon or more , you know the ones that you would use for insecticides or something. Put a little pinesal and laundry detergent in with the water as hot as you can get it. Pre soak and heavy on bad areas. Let sit for a while then go over with machine. I use to work a cleaning out fit . I never even seen a steam machine work better. Pre soak is very important. The carpet will smell good and even be softer and fluffy.References :

To remove stains you should try spot shot. its amazing. it gets pretty much anything out of carpet. You just spray it on, let it sent in for a moment the rub it with a towel, and the stain disappears. we used it on stains that were really old and they came out.

for the smell, you should try one of those carpet refreshener sprays. I think they are things that say you dont have to vacuum or something? idk, but we use that and vacuum and our house always smells greatt.
