http://hometips.gregvan.com/toxic_mold.htm Before mold resistant wallboard, we had green board and now I notice a huge different types of drywall. It doesn’t make sense to use mold resistant wallboard on buildings that are located in areas where mold is a problem. It’s is good, but doesn’t make a lot of sense if you put your thinking caps on. Couldn’t mold grow inside of a wood framed wall or underneath the paint on top of the building texture or joint compound. Do they have mold resistant joint compound yet? If they do, can you use mold resistant paint and mold resistant texture? I understand the business of selling, but I also understand the business of commonsense construction application. I would suggest to anyone interested in purchasing mold resistant wallboard, that they do a little more research about the product and the application.

Interesting… Interesting…
You are too kind. You are too kind.
Your right there… Your right there…
Thanks for being … Thanks for being nice John. I'm not the best communicator but I'm working on it.
I agree I agree
One more thing. I … One more thing. I don't think paper-faced drywall is necessarily the best type of interior wall finishing surface we will ever see in our life time. It is nice and inexpensive, but not perfect. Many people have found this out the hard way when it fails in bathrooms. This is why "cement board" is starting to gain some traction. Drywall has its limits.
We are in violent … We are in violent agreement on the key points. Wooden 2×4, drywall, wall tape, and wall paint might be food for mold. These are probably not good things to put in a wall. So, the manufacturers have replaced paper-faced drywall with fiberglass faced drywall. They have replace paper tape with fiberglass tape. Now just deal with the 2×4 and the paint and perhaps we will be better off.
Greg,
Nothing … Greg,
Nothing false in the video, just unhelpful. You ask something like do they make mold resistant tape? There is nothing false there. Because it is just a question. You didn't say that they don't make it. You just questioned it. What would have been helpful is to find out whether or they actually make it.
Regarding "I guess this applies to comments also", well I tip my hat to you sir.
Thanks
John C. Briggs
John has a good … John has a good point, they do have products that you can use like paint and fiberglass tape that could reduce the possibility of mold. The word mold resistant is very suggestive and paints a picture in a homeowners mind or even someone like John's mind that they're not going to have problems with mold, if they purchased this product. That's the reason why I made this video. This isn't the first product that was created, because of people's fears.
I've never used the … I've never used the product, because it seems to be misleading, like your comment. I don't suggest that mold resistant wallboard isn't mold resistant, the facts are simple though. The other products and associated with the wallboard might not be mold resistant.
Thanks for leaving … Thanks for leaving a honest comment about anyone, can make a video and put it on the Internet. I guess this applies to comments also. Can you tell me one thing about the video that false?

Well a … cont…
Well a moments research would have shown that this product has been used commercially on the outside of buildings for years showing its value. Also, they do make mold resistant tape and mold resistant paint as well. As for the wooden 2×4's molding, well there are metal 2×4's that would be less likely to mold. Greg's cautions are not baseless, but getting rid of paper that is food for mold is a good step in the right direction. Greg's suggestion? well he doesn't seem to have one.
This is really what …
This is really what is wrong with the internet. Anyone can make a video without bothering to look into the matter that they are discussing.
Greg implies that mold-resistant wallboard will likely be pulled from the market? He doesn’t even say if he has used the product or that there is anything even wrong with the product. The problem is that other things might get moldy, like wooden 2×4 or drywall tape.
